About the Company: Our client serves the OEM and aftermarket industries including automotive, trucking, mining, and heavy machinery, producing high-strength pins, bushings, and custom bearing solutions. This is a Direct Hire position with competitive compensation and benefit package. Role is located in Milford, MI.

Position Summary: The Production Manager is responsible for coordinating production flow, scheduling, and material allocation across two manufacturing facilities. This role ensures efficient movement of parts through the production process, maintains accurate planning data, and supports on-time delivery to customers. The position works closely with experienced department leads and shop personnel to drive execution and resolve production challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production planning and workflow across Farmington Hills and Milford facilities (70–80 employees total)
  • Coordinate with department leads to ensure efficient execution of production schedules
  • Maintain and update production tracking spreadsheets (Excel-based) to monitor part flow and delivery timelines
  • Review planning reports and update annually to align with production and inventory needs
  • Allocate raw materials to jobs based on demand, inventory levels, and delivery requirements
  • Issue purchase orders for raw materials (primarily steel) and coordinate with vendors
  • Track inventory levels and proactively reorder materials to prevent shortages
  • Communicate regularly with department leads to ensure alignment on priorities and schedules
  • Serve as a point of contact for customer inquiries regarding order status and delivery adjustments
  • Evaluate feasibility of expediting or rescheduling orders based on production stage
  • Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to support supply continuity
  • Identify and communicate production issues early to ensure timely resolution
  • Maintain a visible presence on the production floor while collaborating with leadership

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a Production Manager, Production Coordinator, or similar manufacturing role
  • Strong understanding of production flow, scheduling, and inventory management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including working with and maintaining spreadsheets and formulas)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (metalworking or industrial preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with highly skilled, tenured teams
  • Proven ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and adapt in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Split time between office and production floor
  • Standard hours: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)
  • Occasional Saturdays and overtime as needed, especially during onboarding
