Our client, a rapidly growing, forward-thinking manufacturer specializing in precision machining and advanced manufacturing technologies. We are looking for a dependable, hardworking Material Handler who takes pride in staying organized, working safely, and helping keep operations moving efficiently.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys staying active, operating equipment, supporting warehouse operations, and being part of a team-focused environment with opportunities to grow.
Hours: Monday – Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm
Pay: $19.00 – $22.00/HR.
Position: Temp-to-hire opportunity
Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Movement & Equipment Operation
- Safely operate sit-down forklifts, Hilo, and power pallet jacks
- Move raw materials, finished goods, and production supplies throughout the facility
- Load and unload trucks efficiently and safely
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly
- Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety standards
Shipping & Receiving Support
- Work closely with the Shipping & Receiving Lead to support daily warehouse operations
- Assist with inbound and outbound freight handling
- Verify shipments against packing slips and report discrepancies
- Stage materials and shipments for production and customer deliveries
- Update inventory and shipment records within PLEX and other systems
Warehouse Organization & Inventory
- Pull and stage materials for production and order fulfillment
- Assist with inventory counts and material tracking
- Maintain organized storage locations and clearly labeled materials
- Keep aisles, staging areas, and warehouse spaces clean and safe
- Support 5S and continuous improvement initiatives
Facility Support & Local Deliveries
Perform basic preventive maintenance on forklifts and warehouse equipment
Restock shipping and warehouse supplies as needed
Assist with light facility upkeep including snow removal and salting during winter months
Make occasional local deliveries using company vehicles
Ensure safe driving practices and proper delivery documentation
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1–2+ years of forklift or warehouse experience in manufacturing or distribution
- Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Valid Michigan driver’s license with clean driving record
- Ability to read packing slips, shipping paperwork, and work orders
- Basic computer skills and comfort learning warehouse systems
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
- Experience operating sit-down forklifts and pallet jacks
- Shipping & receiving experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with PLEX ERP
- Familiarity with OSHA warehouse safety standards
- Mechanical aptitude and comfort performing basic equipment maintenance
- Experience working in Lean or 5S environments
