Overview:  A leading manufacturer of high-quality infrared heating equipment, providing innovative heating solutions to commercial, industrial, and residential markets. The Buyer is responsible for sourcing and managing materials, components, and services required to support production and operational needs. The role ensures material availability at competitive cost, quality, and delivery timelines while supporting supplier performance and continuous improvement activities.

Location: Direct/Full Time role located in Warren (100% on site).

Compensation Range: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery of materials and components.
  • Source and qualify suppliers while obtaining competitive quotations and negotiating pricing and terms.
  • Manage inventory levels and collaborate with production scheduling to forecast demand and prevent shortages.
  • Review and interpret bills of materials, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine purchasing requirements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve quality, delivery, or service issues.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing data, including pricing, lead times, and safety stock.
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives, vendor consolidation efforts, and supply chain improvement projects.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Production, Accounting, and Logistics.
  • Track market conditions, commodity pricing, and supply chain risks affecting procurement decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations Management, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 2–5 years of purchasing or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications is considered an asset
  • Experience purchasing metals, machined components, castings, fasteners, or electronic parts

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Office-based role with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor
  • Occasional domestic travel for supplier visits or trade shows (1-2 weeks annually).
