Our client, a steel processing company, is in need of general labor/production associates for their facility located in Madison Heights, MI.  The positions are direct hires with openings on all three shifts with competitive hourly rates (with rapid raises every 90 days) and benefits (100% employer paid).

Location:  Madison Heights, MI

Pay:  $18.75/hr. with review and increase every 90 days of $.50/hour. Employees can progress to approximately $25.60/hour within about 3 to 3½ years.

Shifts:  Openings on:  Afternoons: 2:00 PM–10:00 PM  |  Midnights: 10:00 PM–6:00 AM. Will train on a day shift.

Benefits:  Blue Cross Blue Shield medical coverage is 100% employer-paid; $6,000 deductible and no employee premium contribution.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and hardworking General Labor / Production Associate to join our steel processing operation. This position will support daily production activities by assisting with the processing, movement, loading, unloading, and packaging of steel products.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial environment. Previous manufacturing, warehouse, steel, metal processing, or machine operation experience is helpful but not required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist production operators with the processing and handling of steel and metal products.
• Load and unload steel coils, sheets, bars, or finished materials using appropriate equipment and procedures.
• Assist with operating and monitoring production equipment after proper training.
• Move raw materials and finished products throughout the facility using carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material-handling equipment.
• Stack, bundle, package, label, and prepare finished steel products for shipment.
• Perform basic measurements and visual inspections to verify product quality.
• Remove scrap material and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist machine operators with setup, material changes, and production activities.
• Follow work instructions, production schedules, and quality requirements.
• Identify and report damaged materials, equipment problems, or quality issues to the supervisor.
• Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and established plant procedures.
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.
• Perform other production and general labor duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, steel processing, or industrial experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and steel products.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn production equipment and processes.
• Forklift experience or certification is a plus.
• Mechanical aptitude or manufacturing experience is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the work shift.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and climb.
• Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds as required.
• Ability to work around noise, dust, metal products, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
• Ability to safely perform duties while wearing required PPE.

Work Environment

This position is performed in a steel processing/manufacturing plant. Employees may be exposed to industrial machinery, steel products, overhead material movement, noise, heat, dust, and other typical manufacturing conditions. Strict adherence to safety procedures is required at all times.
