Accounting Manager/Controller

Salary: $85-$100k (DOE) plus benefits

Summary

 

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Accounting Manager/Controller will manage the team providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all Company activities that will assist management, the corporate office, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the Company’s future.

 

Essential Functions
•       Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.

•       Oversees the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

•       Recommends benchmarks that will be used to measure the company’s performance.

•       Produces the annual budget and forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.

•       General ledger reconciliation accountability.

•       Assists in the preparation of asset, liability, and capital account entries.

•       Management of all accounting and purchasing personnel.

•       Prepare payroll file, oversee payroll tax filings and distributions.

•       Assist with corporate tax filings and payments.

•       Manage Month End Close Procedure.

•       Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit – Year End Audit Preparation.

•       Responds to inquiries from the CFO and President regarding financial results, special reporting requests and various projects.

•       Performs cost analysis of projects and completed projects and determine variances.

•       A focus of this position will be workflow process improvements to ensure timelier monthly closes and reporting.

•       Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.

•       Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

•       Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

•       Other duties as assigned by management.

 

Qualifications
•       Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.

•       A minimum of 5 years of experience in senior-level accounting role, specifically as a Controller, Accounting Manager or similar position.

•       Proficiency with and experience with SAP is required.

•       Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).

•       Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and other Abilities
•        Strong working knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking.

•        Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong negotiation skills.

•        Ability to lead a team, or strong management skills.

•        Proven problem resolution ability.

•        Knowledge of machine tooling equipment (electrical, mechanical, application) preferred.

•        Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.

•        Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

•        Ability to work well with all levels of team members.

•        Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.

•        Must have excellent time management skills.

•        Fluent in Italian preferred, but not necessary.
